Going UNDER the total tonight.  We cashed the Over with Rutgers last week. But honestly, I thought that score would be flipped with Rutgers on the winning side. 30 point favorites doing down like that at home. Wow. Schiano wasting no time benching QB Lonergan here and replacing him after that inept performance 2 TDs good. 3 INTs bad. Lost Fumble. Bad. Sacked 5 time. You see where I am going. Enough reason to try something new.  Also, got a little banged up and Schiano said as much that he was taken out vs UMass because of injury. So, new QB, road game. The total has come down a point as I write this to 54.5. I expect the Rutgers defense to show a little bit of respect for itself and not allow BC to man handle them up and down the field. BC was down 24-0 before scoing in a 34-15 loss. If this one gets past 52 it would surprise me. 4* Total Money UNDER Rutgers/ Boston College

4* Money Maker APPALACHIAN STATE -- uh. Talked about this one with Rob Veno and Jesse Schule on my Live Show Monday night. It was 9.5 and all 3 of us were like - how the heck is ECU basically a 10pt favorite. Now. Down to 7 in some spots. I hate missing the best number but even at a TD this is worth it since I have this at 5.5.

Taking VIRGINIA TECH. I am actually mad that I didn't lay 50 or whatever it was with VT their last game. I think the Franklin hire is solid. This team will roll up lesser teams. We get OD in town. Well, OD has won 2 of the last 4 in this series including a game here 2 years ago. Franklin may not be able to beat the OSU's, Michigans and Oregons. But he will roll up the ODs of the world. The move to the ACC will get him 10-2 seasons every year. Alums will love him covering the number vs these lesser schools. He took a dozen PSU kids, a dozen of their recruits. Rehired the fired HC who was his DC at PSU. Again. he beats the teams he is suppose to beat. Lay it. 4* Money Maker VIRGINIA TECH

Taking BYU. I like BYU. This is tough, aggressive team. I like the coach. Guy passes up the Big 10 and Penn State to stay here. Players love him. I think they have a shot to knock of ND when they play them. Ok. enough of my love fest there. But something else I love - laying -7.5.. I see that extra half point and I know the home team is ready to deliver a double digit butt whipping. This team was 12-2 last year and rallied to win at Arizona. Now they get them at home and are as good or better. Bear Bachmeier is a quiet Heisman guy. You beat ND and are undefeated, you will get a little hype as the season progresses. Arizona hasn't won in Provo since 1975! Big 12 home opener vs a rival. Cougars had been on a 32-4 SU run in night games going into last year. 34-24 seems about right to me. 4* Money Maker BYU

Taking UCLA, again. I told you this team was going to be good out of the gate. You bring a HC, OC, DC, QB, players from a winning program - you will get results vs teams you are better than. And we get another one here Saturday night. Aztecs aren't as defensive as years past. That is perfect for a Bruins team that is pretty good on the offensive side of the ball. I also have the OVER in this one. I think they this team is going to start strong and will be tested down the road. This is where the new coach is a difference make though. Clear edge with him on sidelines over some teams. We saw it last week, we see it here again. Aztecs replacing guys in the seconday. They have a couple WRs banged. UCLA is looking to score early points with fanbase and alum to get the mood up. I think this is a 20point blowout. 4* Money Maker UCLA BRUINS

Taking SYRACUSE. There has been a hefty line move, Orange now -3. I think it makes sense and probably should have been at least 3 to start. I have this number at -4 for myself so I would still move on this. Tough travel for Cal off an old 'rivalry' game. Cross country with a first year HC vs an in-place coach who can recruit. SU have a QB who should be able to put 30+ up on this Cal defense. I think this is a double digit win for Syracuse this afternoon. 4* Money Maker SYRACUSE

Taking BOISE. A bit of a higher line than I thought here. The first look line was 6.5, now as high as 8.5. Boise looked good vs Oregon, for a half. Ducks scored on 5 straight possessions to start the 2nd half. Memphis isn't Oregon. This is a tough travel spot. Memphis opened with a win at UNLV (I had UNLV). They were bet up after that win vs Arkansas State and covered that. Although the Red Wolves scored early in that one. I just look at this line and can't help but think they are trying to lure you in with this being more than a touchdown. Huge playoff implications early in the year for these 2 schools. Home field gets us a double digit win for the Smurf Field Taters. 4* Money Maker BOISE STATE

Taking UCF. Both teams off nice wins. UCF dropped 73 last week while Pitt took care of one of my underdogs last week. But a 59-14 win is still a nice showing. So, I am also on the OVER in this one. I think we get into the 60s for sure. In what I think is a back and forth shootout, I will grab the points. My 2nd week in a row fading Pitt. I just do not think they should be favored by these numbers. The offense looks good for them, so perhaps I have them not graded high enough. Always have to be able to pivot doing this. Worse case, we get a split. But I think this one is a close one, 37-34, 41-37. Heck 34-28 gets us there.  4* Money Maker UCF 

Taking MARYLAND in this one. Ok. So this line? Terps lost their final 8 games of the season last year. Granted. Big 10 teams. They started out 4-0. FAU, NIU, Towson and a 27-10 win AT Wisconsin. Then 3 close loses by 3,4 and 3 points. Could have been 7-0, 6-1, 5-2. (Washington - Nebraska - @UCLA) To say the coach is on the hot seat is an understatement. You see an opener of Maryland -13 points, on the road no less, vs a team that went 9-4 last year. Their 3 regular losses, ALL in Overtime! Man. You have to grab Connecticut in this one right? Maryland a much bigger game vs Virginia Tech on deck. They won't take Uconn seriously. Well. Not me. As mentioned, Locksley needs wins number one. Two. This isn't last years 9-4 team. Former Toledo HC Jason Candle takes over. Now this guy. Talk about doing more with less while with the Rockets. I know in an underdog is where you want to play this guy. But with 87 new players seeing action last week vs Lafayette, you're telling me they are ready to compete against a Big 10 team? Huskies aren't even a Top 100 team in the country. Terps are #1 in returning production this year. Uconn places 130th. Granted, they get some Toledo players in the same system. But the Maryland defense is strong. I think they are begging you to take what is basically 2 TDs. I think the Terps win big this afternoon 4* Money Maker MARYLAND

Taking TEXAS here. Alright. The ol' revenge spot. Playoff loss with Will Howard + Quin Ewers. What a clunker last year, 14-7 Ohio State wins again. I think this game has significantly more points scored. And the Longhorns score more. Arch Manning is ready for his close up. The kid had a pretty solid season last year. All the hype. Well, here it is. Time for Texas to win a big game and set the stage for a big season. In today's CFB, a loss doesn't knock either team out of title contention, but, you don't want to lose in Week 2. Forget about last weeks cupcakes. Time for the big boys to come out to play. I think Sark pulls some tricks out of his hat and the Longhorns get it done. 4* Money Maker TEXAS LONGHORNS

Taking OKLAHOMA. Hail Mary times 2 for a win for Michigan. Get outta here. One. I understand its a 'buy low' on Michigan. I thought this team would come out stong with a new HC, a good HC, proven winner. What a disgraceful performance. Oklahoma has a better defense and offense then Western Michigan who came in and man-handled the Wolverines. Heisman QB vs a guy who made a miracle throw. I'm laying it and think Sooners win by 10 or more. Also like the UNDER in this one. 4* Money Maker OKLAHOMA SOONERS
