We hope you’ll use these power rankings to help you make your basketball bets this week.  If you aren’t quite ready to take the plunge yourself, be sure to check out the many NCAA basketball picks available from our top-rated handicappers.  Their ultimate goal is to help you beat the college basketball spreads week after week and have your bankroll grow throughout the season.  On of the tools these handicappers use are conference power rankings and in this article we’ll look at the current power rankings for the Big East, focusing on those teams that have been best against the point spread so far this season.

1: Syracuse Orange (6-1 ATS, 10-0 SU) (LW: 3) If the ‘Cuse proved nothing else this week down in Tampa Bay, it’s that they have an incredibly strong and incredibly deep squad. They had no problems with the Gators and their pressure defense, racking up a whopping 85 points in a huge victory.

On Deck: Home vs. St. Bonaventure

2: South Florida Bulls (6-2 ATS, 7-2 SU) (LW: 1) The Bulls were hefty favorites on Sunday at home against the Chippewas, but they suffered a bad, bad 59-56 defeat. For all of the good work that was done in this non-conference season, that loss will spoil the bunch. Rivals from up the road come to town this week before USF heads west.

On Deck: Home vs. Central Florida, Away @ San Francisco, Away @ San Diego

3: Villanova Wildcats (6-3 ATS, 9-1 SU) (LW: 2) The Wildcats started the week with a 97-89 win over St. Joe’s that didn’t come anywhere near covering the spread, but their undefeated SU run ended at nine games with a bad loss at Temple. There’s still one more road game left on the non-conference slate, but the Rams shouldn’t supply nearly the challenge that the Owls did.

On Deck: Away @ Fordham

4: Georgetown Hoyas (3-1 ATS, 8-0 SU) (LW: 11) The Hoya Destroya is back! G’Town crushed both Butler and Washington last week, notching two tremendous wins in their cap and shushing the naysayers who bashed its weak schedule. The Hoyas should wrap up the non-conference slate at a perfect 10-0, and really shouldn’t have a problem at the beginning of Big East play either.

On Deck: Home vs. Old Dominion

5: DePaul Blue Demons (5-3 ATS, 6-3 SU) (LW: 5) The Blue Demons rebounded from a bad loss to Mississippi State by turning around and creaming Illinois-Chicago on Sunday. This should be a ten-win squad going into Big East play, which could set DePaul up for a run towards March Madness.

On Deck: Home vs. American, Home vs. Texas State

6: Seton Hall Pirates (2-1 ATS, 8-0 SU) (LW: 12) It’s not often that you can score 134 points in a game! The Pirates blitzkrieged VMI 134-107 on Saturday, a few days after blasting UMass for their second cover of the year. Seton Hall is averaging 90.8 points per game this year, the #2 mark in the land. That’s made all the more impressive considering the fact that St. Peter’s held it to just 53 in the first game of the season!

On Deck: Home vs. Temple

7: St. John’s Red Storm (4-3 ATS, 8-1 SU) (LW: 8) The Johnnies continued their strong run through their non-conference schedule with two more wins last week. They’ll need all of those days off to prepare for the Pride, who is going to be a very tough task at home.

On Deck: Home vs. Hofstra

8: Cincinnati Bearcats (3-3 ATS, 6-2 SU) (LW: 4) Cincinnati deserved to cover the spread against Xavier on Sunday, but blew it right at the death in the second overtime. It marked the third straight failed attempt at beating the number for the Bearcats, who need to rebound in a hurry to avoid a disaster against the Blazers this week.

On Deck: Away @ UAB, Home vs. Lipscomb

And the rest…

9: West Virginia Mountaineers (3-3 ATS, 7-0 SU) (LW: 13)
10: Providence Friars (3-3 ATS, 7-4 SU) (LW: 7)
11: Notre Dame Fighting Irish (3-3 ATS, 9-2 SU) (LW: 6)
12: Marquette Golden Eagles (3-3 ATS, 7-3 SU) (LW: 9)
13: Louisville Cardinals (2-3 ATS, 5-3 SU) (LW: 10)
14: Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2-3 ATS, 6-2 SU) (LW: 14)
15: Pittsburgh Panthers (3-5-1 ATS, 8-2 SU) (LW: 15)
16: Connecticut Huskies (1-6 ATS, 6-2 SU) (LW: 16)
