If you are looking to become better at making your own college basketball picks, one of the best tools you can use are power rankings.  There are many different sources to get them and you can really start to pinpoint the best matchups each week, especially once conference play gets going.  Here are the latest power rankings for the Big 10 conference.  You can check on the lines all week long with our college basketball point spreads.  They’ll help you make sure you are getting the best odds with every bet that you make.  When you are ready to start placing bets on basketball, a great option to get started is this $500 match bonus from BetUS.

1: Ohio State Buckeyes (6-3 ATS, 7-2 SU) (LW: 1) Life without F Evan Turner is certainly not going to be fun for the Buckeyes. They couldn’t get anything really going offensively against the Bulldogs and were dropped 74-66. There are at least a few easy home games to get things back together, but yikes, could these next two months be dangerous for a team that was supposed to be amongst the elites in the country.

On Deck: Home vs. Presbyterian, Home vs. Delaware State

2: Purdue Boilermakers (5-3-1 ATS, 9-0 SU) (LW: 3) The Boilers rallied from a double-digit deficit in Tuscaloosa to drop the Tide 73-65 on Saturday. They’ll take a much-needed week off from action after sweeping through a horrifying first nine games of the season.

On Deck: Off

3: Northwestern Wildcats (4-2 ATS, 7-1 SU) (LW: 3) The Wildcats made short work out of North Carolina A&T over the weekend, and turn their attention to three more non-conference battles in Evanston before kicking off their Big Ten slate at Illinois to close out 2009.

On Deck: Home vs. North Florida, Home vs. Stanford

4: Wisconsin Badgers (4-3 ATS, 7-2 SU) (LW: 4) For as bad as an 88-84 OT loss to Wisky-Green Bay might’ve seemed last week, a 72-63 win against Marquette was probably every bit as good. Without a slip here in the near future, the Badgers should be 10-2 going into the start of Big Ten play on New Year’s Eve.

On Deck: Home vs. Cal-Poly

5: Minnesota Golden Gophers (5-4 ATS, 7-3 SU) (LW: 6) The Gophers had a heck of a week, dismantling both St. Joe’s and Morgan State without any difficulty. Is there any excuse not to be 11-3 going into Lafayette on January 5th? Not if HC Tubby Smith’s boys think they’re dancing this year!

On Deck: Home vs. Northern Illinois

6: Indiana Hoosiers (3-5-1 ATS, 4-5 SU) (LW: 8) HC Tom Crean has his most notable win as the head man in Hoosiertown. As nine-point pups, IU knocked off traditional powerhouse, Pitt 74-64 on Tuesday night. Though no one is expecting much from the Hoosiers this year in Big Ten play, it’s possible to hope for a 12-15 win season that could really help boost the program as it tries to rebuild.

On Deck: Home vs. UNC-Central

7: Penn State Nittany Lions (3-5-1 ATS, 6-4 SU) (LW: 5) It was a bad week to be a Nittany Lion bettor. PSU lost a heartbreaker to Virginia Tech on Saturday that is going to really sting come tourney time without a good Big Ten season. This offense just needs to be more consistent, as 65.8 points per game won’t cut it in this league.

On Deck: Home vs. Gardner-Webb

8: Illinois Fighting Illini (3-5 ATS, 7-2 SU) (LW: 10) The Illini have bounced back from a poor pair of games in Las Vegas with four victories, and have gone 3-1 ATS in those three games to boot. It’s back on the road this week in this first of two difficult games away from Champaign.

On Deck: Away @ Georgia

And the rest…

9: Michigan State Spartans (3-6 ATS, 8-2 SU) (LW: 9)

10: Iowa Hawkeyes (2-7 ATS, 3-7 SU) (LW: 11)

11: Michigan Wolverines (1-3 ATS, 4-3 SU) (LW: 7)
