Merril’s Wichita State at Iowa Picks
November 24, 2009
If you have been looking for somebody to help you figure out which of the college basketball spreads are beatable each night, then you have to take a look at Steve Merril. Nobody has been hotter here recently as evidenced by his 18-7 run over his last 25 college basketball picks. Of course, anybody who has been following this guy for the past several years has to realize that this is what you come to expect out of one of the best big name handicappers in the business. Let’s take a look at his easy winner he posted last night on Wichita State:
The Shockers played a disappointing game last night in their 13-point loss to Pittsburgh. It was just a 4-point game in the second half, but Pittsburgh was able to extend their lead late on Wichita St. We expect a much improved effort tonight as the Shockers welcome back their starting point guard Clevin Hannah who was serving a 3-game suspension. His return will ignite this team, and with a pro-Wichita St crowd, there’s plenty of motivation for this game.
Wichita St is a solid mid-major program that has plenty of experience playing the big-name teams. And the Shockers still have plenty of confidence coming into tonight’s game. “Going out and playing these big teams, we play with a sense of urgency,” junior Graham Hatch said. “I think we’re definitely more prepared.”
Iowa is simply not a good team. They are extremely young; roster is full of freshman and sophomores. And their best player from last season, Jake Kelly, transferred to Indiana St to be closer to his mother who is sick. This team is still learning how to play while Wichita St is a solid team looking to bounce back off a bad performance last night.
