It isn’t easy to find a legit, honest bookie to take your action during the college basketball season and that is why we advocate taking your bets online. We have complied a list of where to bet college basketball so you know the books that you can trust are run with the utmost integrity. A couple of other perks that you get from these online books are reduced juice, healthy bonuses, 24/7 customer service, and tons of wagering options. Don’t worry, all books pay you your money promptly and via a variety of different methods, plus it’s fairly easy to get your money deposited into a new account.

Click on any of the links below to be taken to the site and to open an account. Best of all, if you sign up for a new account and tell the book we referred you, simply contact us to let us know your account number and we will give you a FREE premium subscription to any of the handicappers on our site.

1. 5 Dimes – This is my favorite place to bet. You can get reduced juice odds on every game, early line postings, and betting options that include props, totals and money lines. If you like to bet teasers they have the widest selection I have found.

2. Bodog – This is the biggest book on the Internet. They have been around for a very long time and you never hear any complaints about them. Their customer service is fantastic, but why I like using them are their unique lines on games. If you like underdogs, you will most likely see the best numbers available here.

3. BetOnline - This is one of the newer books that I have been using due to their high limits and tons of betting options. You also won’t find better deposit bonuses at any other book than you find here, so if you want some free money to start your account up with this is the place to start.

4. Bookmaker – Maybe the oldest sportsbook on the web. If you like to get your bets in early, there is nowhere that posts the odds faster than these guys. They also take high limits so you will be able to bet your max on almost every game you desire.

5. WagerWeb - A book that has flown under the radar but has always paid me quick, offered some unique lines on games, and answered all of my customer service questions quickly. Same day payouts are also a nice perk.

6. JustBet – You can get large deposit bonuses and easy payout methods here. Solid reputation in the business.

As you can see there are plenty of options to place your wagers. I do recommend that you open accounts up at a few different sites so that you can shop around for the best line on the game you are looking to bet. Odds can vary by up to a point at the different sites, so why not get as much value out of each bet as possible?

How to Handicap College Basketball

There is no easy way to handicap a basketball game. There are a lot of different variables that go into each contest and you are going to want to break the game down from a variety of angles before placing your hard earned money on one of the teams. Let’s take a look at some different methods that you should use if you want to achieve the highest winning percentage possible.

Public Perception

The sportsbooks want balanced action on the games. They want to make their money off the juice, which is the additional amount bettors have to risk on their bet. If the books take heavy action on one side of a game and that side wins, they stand to lose money. Once you realize that the sportsbooks want balanced action, and they aren’t trying to set the line perfectly in terms of average score you are going to be on your way to learning how to beat the line.

There are certain teams that are public favorites and certain teams the public wants to avoid. Every year the average Joe knows that Kansas, North Carolina, and Duke are going to be good and they will blindly take these teams against inferior opponents or conference door mats. Not everyone is willing to take a Penn State or Colorado. What you want to do is find value where teams are better than they are perceived or they are not as good as perceived.

Home/Away

The home court advantage in college basketball is between 4-6 points depending on the venue. This means that the spread a team could be -6 against an opponent on their home floor but then be +6 if they play them later in the year on the other school’s court. You absolutely have to factor home court advantage in when you are handicapping games. To go along with the public perception a little bit, popular teams who take to the road normally do not give up enough points to the other team’s home court advantage.

Injuries

You need to know who is playing and who is sitting out. There is nothing worse than backing a team and then finding out their star player is playing limited minutes due to an injury you didn’t know about. Deep teams can withstand injuries better than teams that use 6-7 guys in a heavy rotation. If there is an injury to a player on a deep team, the odds can over react and you can bet on that team knowing they won’t be hurt as bad as everyone thinks.

Important Stats

When looking at two teams how can you tell who is going to matchup well against their opponent? The stats that I like to look at are: effective field goal percentage, turnover rate, rebounding, and free throws per field goal attempt. You need to look at how both teams have fared both offensively and defensively.

Effective field goal rate adjust for three-point shots, basically if someone goes 2-4 from three point range that is the same as going 3-4 from 2-point, they are both worth six points. You then want teams that are going to protect the ball so you know you will get more attempts out of them, plus teams that are going to rebound to give themselves extra opportunities while limiting their opponents. Free throws are important because they are easier to make, but also because it puts the other team in foul trouble.

Recap

Southern Cal had a decent season in 2010-11 with a 19-15 record and also a fourth place showing within the Pac-10 conference. During the conference tourney Southern Cal made it towards the semifinals, then proceeded to lose in the play-in game of the NCAA tournament to Virginia Commonwealth.

The Trojans obtained results by being a superb defensive group. USC held their opponents to less than 41% from the field shooting and to less than 64 points every contest.

The loss of Nikola Vucevic and Alex Stepheson will be hard to substitute. Vucevic averaged more than 17 points each game and grabbed more than 10 boards every night. Stepheson was the group’s second best rebounder at more than 7 per night and also contributed 9.8 points.

2011-12 Overview

Kevin O’Neill has been the Trojan head coach for a couple of seasons and has given the fans teams that play hard and improve as the season goes on. This year’s team has a great deal of production to replace, but O’Neill does have Jio Fontan, Maurice Jones, and Garrett Jackson returning. As well as a solid recruiting class the Trojans brought in transfers Aaron Fuller and Dewayne Dedmon.

Backcourt

USC is going be heavily depending on their backcourt starters of Fontan and Jones. Fontan sat out fall semester last year, but came in to lead the group in assists and ended up second in scoring at more than ten points per game.

Jones was third on the team in points with 9.9 points each night, gave out 110 overall assists, and set the school record with 69 steals as a freshman. His achievements helped to earn him a spot on the Pac-10 All-Freshman squad.

Bryon Wesley is a 6’5″ freshman guard who is expected to contribute to the offensive end right away. Alexis Moore is an additional freshman who ought to see action and contributes very well on each side sides of the court. Junior college transfer Greg Allen can be a excellent defender and can shoot the three.

Frontcourt

The Trojans three big men ought to be Aaron Fuller, Dewayne Dedmon, and James Blascyk. Fuller was compelled be out the 2010-11 season soon after transfering over from Iowa. In his sophomore season in Iowa City he was honorable mention on the All-Big 10 team with 9.7 points and almost 7 rebounds per contest.

These guys will likely be pushed in practice by a couple of transfers who will sit out this year. Ari Stewart and Eric Wise transferred from Wake Forest and UC-Irvine, respectively.

Every single season we offer our USC basketball preview in order to get you prepared to beat the NCAA basketball lines.

Jamie Dixon and the Pittsburgh Panthers had a very productive regular season in 2010-11. Despite taking part in a hard Big East schedule, the team ended up with a 15-3 record in conference play and 28-6 overall.

The Panthers defeated Connecticut easily in the final regular season meeting, but were beat by the Huskies by a couple of points in the conference tourney. Pitt didn’t have much luck in the NCAA tournament either, losing in the second round to Butler. So, even with their regular season success, fans had to be a little disappointed at the close of the season.

The 2011-12 version of the Pitt basketball team will have only two starters returning. Still, coach Dixon has started a winning tradition and the school has shown to be able to reload when losing top talent. Expectations will be high once again for the Panthers.

Backcourt

Pittsburgh’s backcourt play centers around Asthon Gibbs. Gibbs was thinking about declaring for the NBA draft, but withdrew due to the uncertain labor situation. It’s a good thing he did since it doesn’t look like the NBA will hit the court any time soon. Last year he put up 16.8 points per game on 49% 3-point shooting and he will be counted on to be the main offensive force for the Panthers in 2011-12.

Travon Woodall will try to replace Brandon Wanamaker. Woodall is a good defender who is going to have to live up to the hype of being a decent distributor. Also seeing playing time will be Cameron Wright, Durand Johnson, and John Johnson.

Frontcourt

Pitt’s main losses came from the post positions that will be without Gilbert Brown and Gary McGhee. Even with those two gone, Pittsburgh does get some strong players returning to go together with some exciting recruits.

Nasir Robinson will bring the expertise to the floor. Last season he averaged 9.4 points and almost 5 rebounds each game, but he should get more minutes this season and thus increase his productivity.

Khem Birch was a McDonald’s All-American and one of the very best big men coming out of high school. Malcolm Gilbert was also desired by a good deal of universities due to his rebounding and shot blocking capabilities. These two newcomers will be expected to produce right away, and there is little reason to believe they won’t be up to the challenge.

Supplying the team with some additional minutes will likely be Dante Taylor, JJ Moore, and Talib Zanna.

Each year we offer our Pitt Panthers basketball predictions so you can get yourself ready to beat the college basketball lines on their games.

Last Season Review

Not much was expected out of Iowa State last year. Almost all of us figured they could be last within the Big 12 conference with just two players back from the 2009-10 season, but the Cyclones ended up being sort of a surprise. Typically, it is really tough for folks to get energized about a .500 season, nonetheless it was the first time Iowa State did not possess a losing record since the 2005-6 season.

In Fred Hoiberg’s first season Iowa State fully transformed their identity. Heading from a slow it down and grind it out team to one which ran much more and spread the floor. That change of pace helped the Cyclones rank fifth in the conference and 39th in the nation in offense at 74.8 points for every contest.

Iowa State also shot the three-ball extremely effectively last year, nailing 275 (8.6 each game) shots from behind the arc. That was good enough to lead the conference and rank 13th within the country.

2011-12 Overview

Only two starters return for Iowa State this year, but the real key is the addition of four transfers. Last year this group was called the top scout team within the nation and helped keep each practice competitive. Now Chris Allen, Chris Babb, Royce White, and Anthony Booker will likely be prepared to prove themselves on the floor.

Last season Iowa State wasn’t extremely deep, so they performed a far more conservative half-court defense. With a lot more talent on this year’s squad you can bet they will be much more aggressive in making use of pressure to force turnovers.

Backcourt

Iowa State is likely to have to seek out a way to replace Dainte Garrett’s production. He was a quality point guard who notched his name all through Iowa State’s history books for both assists and points.

There’s still a lot of talent in the Cyclone backcourt. Scott Christopherson is a extremely talented shooter who has made 131 career 3-pointers already. He nailed 86 last season, ending up second in the conference and 33rd in the nation at 2.8 per game. His 44.1 three-point percentage was good for 11th around the country and he has buried a trey in 34 straight contests. Christopherson doesn’t turn the ball over, works hard, and should not need to log countless minutes this year due to the team’s bench.

You are going to probably see Iowa State using a good deal of 3-guard sets as a result of possessing so much talent in the backcourt. Transfers Chris Allen, Chris Babb, and Tyrus McGee are sound shooters. Allen and Babb ended up Big 10 starters and the two averaged just under ten points for each game back in 2009-10. McGee is coming through from Cowley Community College.

Chris Allen brings three seasons of experience from his time at Michigan State. He’s played in 14 tournament games and two Final Fours. He can not simply shoot from the outside, but can also be a defensive stopper.

Chris Babb drained 69 3-point baskets in his final year at Penn State and averaged 10.2 ppg in Big 10 action.

Tyrus McGee drained 115 three-point shots last season at a 48.7% clip. He was a NJCAA First-Team All-American and might play both at the two and at point.

Two additional players to watch out for are Bubu Palo and Tavon Sledge. Palo played all 32 games last season and proved capable of playing the one position. Sledge could be the one with the most potential. He’s incredibly quick and was ranked as the 3rd best player in New York City after averaging 25.3 points and 5.2 dimes in his senior season.

Frontcourt

Mevlin Ejim and Jordan Railey each ought to see action as returning letterman although Royce White, Anthony Booker, and Percy Gibson will all make an impact as newcomers.

Ejim experienced an incredibly productive freshman season last year for Iowa State. The Canadian put up 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds for every game. He was only the 12th freshman in school history to average double figures. Despite his quality production, Hoiberg thinks Ejim might be even far better this season. Ejim is far more of a small forward, but was compelled to move to the paint last year because of the Cyclone’s lack of depth.

Royce White was an extremely highly touted recruit two years ago, but failed to participate in a game for the Minnesota Golden Gophers after which he sat out last year soon after transferring to Iowa State. White is powerful and can be an outstanding passer. He’ll be beginning at power forward and may very well be the star of this team.

Percy Gibson was one of the top big guys in Michigan last year, putting up 21.2 points and 12 boards for each game. Booker was a top-50 player coming out of high school, but only averaged 6.4 points and 4.1 rebounds when he was a freshman for Southern Illinois.

Former Buffalo head coach Jeff Bzdelik took off for Wake Forest this past Spring, but he really left behind a quality team for his successor. Colorado went 15-16 last season and they have not been invited to the NCAA Tournament in quite a few years. Still, with what new head coach Tad Boyle has on his squad gives the Buffaloes hope to stop this streak. Boyle came over from Northern Colorado and managed to keep around the three important players that led Colorado last year. Last year’s Big 12 Freshman of the Year in Alec Burks returns, as do seniors Cory Higgins and Marcus Relphorde. The three put up 47.0 points per game last year. This team equals the talent of that 2003 squad that made it to the Big Dance, and with a new practice facility and a switch to the Pac-10, interest surrounding the team is at an all-time high. First and foremost, the Buffaloes need to improve their defense (74.2 PPG) and hitting the glass (-7.5 margin) to attain their ultimate goal this season.

The Buffaloes are +2000 to win the Big 12 this year. That translates to a $100 wager would win you $2,000 if they can pull it off. I certainly think it’s a longshot, but considering they bring back more offense than any other team in the Big 12 it’s not out of the question. Check out these NCAA basketball spreads for futures betting at BetUS.
Trust in Jack Jones to take make you a ton of money this year. Jack is on a 37-23 (62%) Run with his NCAA basketball picks dating back to last year.

Frontcourt:

Colorado had a -7.5 rebounding differential last season, and it was even worse in Big 12 play at -11.4. A big reason was the play of freshman center Shane Harris-Tunks, as well as sophomore forward Austin Dufault playing out of position. An extra year for each should mean the teams gets better in this category. Boyle was able to sign 7-foot freshman Ben Mills last spring who should see time instantly as long as he can hold his own in the paint. Senior Marcus Relphorde contributed 11.0 PPG and 4.1 RPG last season, but he is known for his slashing offensive skills more than his defense. Junior Trey Eckloff will be one of their reserves after not seeing much playing time a year ago. Burks was tops on the Buffs in rebounding at 5.0 RPG, and when a backcourt player is leading the team in rebounding there’s clearly going to be issues. The Buffaloes will obviously go back to square one as Boyle teaches rebounding and defense with a lot more frequency than Bzdelik.

Backcourt:

Burks ended up seventh in the Big 12 in scoring at 17.1 PPG and was tops in the conference in shooting percentage at 53.8 percent. You couldn’t have asked for more out of him as a freshman, but for him to reach his full ability he should get stronger. Boyle struck gold when he got Burks to stick around instead of entering the NBA Draft, impressing upon him how his passing offense would help Burks raise his stock. Higgins was fourth in the Big 12 in scoring at 18.9 PPG and finished second behind Burks in field goal percentage at 50.5 percent. It’s hard to conceive how Colorado could have a losing year with two solid players like Burks and Higgins on the outside who were able to knock down more than 50% of their shots even though opposing teams game-planned around stopping them. The wild card is freshman point guard Shannon Sharpe, who was forced to redshirt last year after hurting his knee in the preseason and undergoing microfracture surgery. He’ll battle it out with junior Nate Tomlinson, who started 21 times last year at point guard despite being inconsistent.

Jack’s Pick: 6th Place in the Big 12 – There hasn’t been much excitement around Colorado basketball in recent seasons, but there is promise of a breakout in 2010-11. Boyle was able to get Higgins, Burks and Relphorde and their huge offensive contributions to return, and that’s a victory within itself. He has plenty of talent to geniunely make a run at a league title, but must get this squad to rebound and defend. The Buffaloes posted 74.6 PPG last season and can score with any team, but a lack of depth and a wonder about how much these returning players want to buy in on the defensive end makes it hard for me to pick Colorado to end up any higher than 6th in the conference. I do see the Buffaloes sneaking into the NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid, reaching the Big Dance for the first time since 2003.

Head coach Travis Ford wanted to run a fast paced style here at Oklahoma State, and he may now have the parts in place to execute it. The Cowboys were led almost single-handedly to the NCAA Tournament last season by James Anderson, who Ford had to shape the team around. The Cowboys went 22-11 and realized an at-large bid last season before losing in the first round. Anderson put up 22.3 PPG to top the Big 12 and 5.8 RPG. Obi Muonelo is the other big departure for the Cowboys. Still, the team brings back quite a few key players and signed five potential impact recruits that are better-suited to run the up-tempo scheme Ford likes.

The Cowboys are +1500 to win the league this year. You can find these college basketball lines over at BetUS where our readers can earn up to a $500 bonus on their initial deposits. All you have to do to claim this bonus is sign up for a new account and deposit $500 or more.

Jack Jones is here to help you cash this season with his college basketball picks. Jack is among nearly 80 handicappers who specialize in beating the lines each day, and he is on a 37-23 (62%) CBB run as of this article.

Frontcourt:

Matt Pilgrim ultimately came on at the end of last year after transferring from Kentucky, putting up 10.9 PPG and 8.0 RPG over his final 12 games. He is a great athlete who can run the floor and is the ideal forward in Ford’s system. Senior Marshall Moses must be much better on and off the court after a disappointing junior season. Junior college transfer Darrell Williams is a 6’8” 250-pounder who does a good job of clogging up the middle. J.P. Olukemi joined the school in the spring semester and competed against James Anderson every day while sitting out. He is more of a slashing forward who impressed while learning from one of the best in the nation. Forward Roger Franklin and center Jarred Shaw gained valuable experience while earning time as true freshman last season. 6’8” freshman Michael Cobbins has the worth ethic and skills to be a future great for Oky State, but must get bigger if he’s going to be able to handle the grind of a difficult conference schedule.

Backcourt:

Point guard Ray Penn went down last February with a knee injury, but should be at 100% this year. Ford thinks he will be the catalyst of this offense, running the fast-break. Freshman Markel Brown led Peabody Magnet High to the Louisiana Class-4A Championship by posting 32 points en route to leading his team to an unbeaten 41-0 mark. He can play either the 2 or the 3, and should be the best player to help fill the holes left by Anderson and Muonelo. Keiton Page was forced to play the one when Penn got hurt, but should look more comfortable moving back to the shooting guard spot. Senior Nick Didorakis has been named a captain due to his gritty play on both ends, and his smarts. Fred Gulley, Reger Dowell and freshman Brian Williams will probably be role players.

Jack’s Pick: 7th Place in the Big 12 – Similar to most coaches in their third year on a new team, Ford has his players in position. He has a more athletic and versatile squad to run the fast-paced game he likes. The conference is certainly up in the air this year, and even with the losses of Anderson and Muonelo Oky State has enough talent to make some noise. A third straight NCAA Tournament berth is likely, especially if Penn can stay healthy and Brown can live up to the hype.

The Texas Longhorns started 17-0 last season and made it up to the No. 1 rating for the first time in school history. Many expected them to make a Final Four run, especially with future NBA prospects in Avery Bradley, Damion James and Dexter Pittman. But over the next couple months, Texas would complete the season with a 7-10 record while getting knocked out in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Wake Forest. Head coach Rick Barnes believes the way they concluded last year was due to a lack of team chemistry. Barnes found that there were too many strong personalities on last year’s squad, and not enough leadership. The Longhorns will be looking for quite a few players to improve this year to supply that leadership. It would be guards Varez Ward or Dogus Balbay. Senior forward Gary Johnson could step to the forefront, and even perhaps freshman five-star recruit Cory Joseph may be the answer. Either way, Texas needs to get back to playing team basketball after a unacceptable year to say the least.

You will find the Longhorns at +300 to win the league this year. In my eyes, there isn’t much value in them taking home the Big 12 championship. This has the looks of a rebuilding season for Texas. BetUS has these college basketball spreads posted, so if you want to bet on which team will win the conference then sign up for a new account with them. Deposit $500 or more and they’ll reward you with $500 free money to get you started.

We are your No. 1 authority for college basketball picks this year. Jack Jones ended last season sound and is currently riding a 37-23 (62%) CBB run as of this article. Sign up for a premium package from Jack today and he’ll guide you to monster profits this season.

Frontcourt:

The Longhorns may not be big this year, with two forwards and three guards on the floor the majority of the time. Gary Johnson should be their top player in the post after putting up 9.4 PPG and 5.6 RPG last season. He’ll be joined by five-star recruit Tristan Thompson, who was Cory Joseph’s teammate at Findlay Prep in Nevada. But Texas will have make up the points lost from leading scorer in Damion James, who also finished as the Big 12’s all-time leading rebounder. Dexter Pittman will also be missed after being drafted No. 32 overall by the Miami Heat. The Longhorns do have some experience that will provide depth in the frontcourt. It will come from seniors Matt Hill and Clint Chapman along with junior Alexis Wangmene.

Backcourt:

Guard play will likely settle how Texas fares this year. Cory Joseph must gel with offensive-minded shooting guards in J’Covan Brown and Jordan Hamilton. Brown posted 9.6 PPG last season but shot just 35.4 percent from the field, while Hamilton is the team’s leading scorer back at 10.0 PPG. Barnes is very big on both players with what they’ve done in the offseason to improve their games entering their sophomore years. Ward and Balbay are both healing from injuries that required surgery, and each is able to provide leadership and defensive toughness, two traits that are very important to the Longhorns success this year. Hamilton, Brown and Joseph figure to be the team’s primary scorers, and Texas could get some scoring from Shawn Williams as well. He is coming back from an ankle injury that took him out of the remainder of the year just seven games into their 2010-11 campaign. At 6’6”, he can get a shot whenever he wants and is a potentially deadly 3-point shooter.

Jack’s Pick: 5th Place in the Big 12 – Barnes said last season was the worst coaching job of his life. He had a team full of offensive talent, but advocated defense and rebounding so much down the wire that his team could lost their rhythm offensively. He will always be defense and rebounding first, but this season he must find a way to replace three of their top four scorers from last season. If Joseph can master the ball screen offense that Barnes likes to run, then it could be a remarkable season in Texas after back-to-back middle-of-the-pack finishes in the Big 12.

Missouri head coach Mike Anderson reportedly turned down a deal that would have given him close to $2 million per season to coach at Oregon. Missouri would have been in no shape to equal that offer, a season after they gave Anderson a new seven-year contract valued $1.55 million per year. The decision by Anderson to stay points quite a bit about his character. This will be his fifth season in Columbia, and he wants to complete what he began. A veteran roster along with a Top 10 recruiting class give the Tigers a chance to do some serious work not only in the Big 12, but in the NCAA Tournament. After making it to the Elite Eight in 2009, Missouri went 23-11 overall and 10-6 in conference games last year while making it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

BetUS has offered Missouri at +600 to win the conference this year. I think this is the best value bet among NCAA basketball lines in terms of futures betting for the Big 12. The Tigers are certainly a sleeper, and will be a force this season just two years removed from reaching the Elite Eight. This sportsbook will give you $500 free cash by signing up for a new account and depositing $500 or more.

Jack Jones offers college basketball picks at low-cost prices. Sign up for a premium package with him as he continues his 37-23 (62%) CBB run after finishing last year very strong.

Frontcourt:

Justin Safford returns from a torn anterior cruciate ligament for his senior season, making him the only senior on Missouri’s roster. Junior Laurence Bowers has recovered from offseason wrist surgery, and promises to keep up his stellar play within the league where he led the Tigers in rebounds and blocked shots last year. Bringing in both Ricardo Ratliffe and Tony Mitchell has Mizzou fans buzzing. Ratliffe was the nation’s top juco players last season, averaging 27.4 points and 11.3 rebounds for Central Florida Community College. As good as Ratliffe will likely be, Mitchell has the upside to be even better. He was a top-15 recruit with NBA talent who, if he can keep his grades up, will likely be a huge addition for the Tigers. Providing depth in the paint is junior Steve Moore along with sophomore John Underwood.

Backcourt:

No doubt the Tigers will miss the skills of J.T. Tilller and Zaire Taylor, two team leaders who were able to lock down opponents on defense. But there is plenty of talent left in the cupboard here, as junior Kim English is the school’s leading returning point producer at 14.0 PPG. Junior Marcus Denmon put up 10.4 PPG and hit 40.7% from behind the line a year ago. English must improve his shooting after hitting just 34.6 percent of his attempts, and he also needs to protect the basketball after turning the ball over a team high 71 times. Sophomore Michael Dixon will probably get the first crack to run the point, especially with his speed and ball-handling skills. If he can make more of his jump shots, the sky is the limit for Dixon. Phil and Matt Pressey are two brothers and two new faces Missouri is depending on right away. Both are sons of former NBA player Paul Pressley, who was Anderson’s college roommate. Phil is a freshman who is one of the top recruits at point guard, while Matt is a junior college All-American. Look for freshman Ricky Kreklow to work his way into some playing time as well due to his excellent shot.

Jack’s Prediction: 4th Place in the Big 12 – Anderson coaches a frenetic brand of basketball, and he has the players this year to run his scheme to perfection. Kansas, Kansas State and Baylor are the preseason favorites to contend for the league championship, but if Anderson can get his new players to buy into his defensive doctrine, then Missouri will be competing for that title themselves. The Tigers have never reached the Final Four, and they don’t just want to make it to the NCAA Tournament for a third straight season. Anderson stuck around because he knows the talent this team has and their potential, which makes the Tigers a clear sleeper in both the conference and on a national level.

The Texas A&M Aggies have been the definition of overachiever under head coach Mark Turgeon. After getting chosen to finish in the bottom half of the conference last season, Texas A&M went on to go 24-10 overall and 11-5 in the Big 12, ending up in a tie for second place in the conference. Texas A&M did lose a tough one to Purdue 63-61 in overtime in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament, a loss that certainly leaves a bad taste in Turgeon’s mouth. Many don’t know this, but A&M is one of only two teams to win at least one time in the NCAA Tournament for five consecutive years. The other is the Pittsburgh Panthers, so that’s quite a feat in itself. This team has proven they can overcome adversity, and they had a lot more of it this summer. In May, top recruit Tobi Oyedeji died in a car accident. Then in July, the NCAA denied Derrick Roland an extra year of eligibility after getting hurt last December.

BetUS offers NCAA basketball lines each night for sports gamblers to bet on. They have marked Texas A&M at +650 to win the conference this year, which means they are in the middle of the pack. This reliable book is giving away $500 free cash to our visitors who sign up for a new account and deposit $500 or more.

Jack Jones will be releasing NCAA basketball picks all season long. Jack looks forward to continueing the 37-23 (62%) CBB run he built up dating back to last year. Sign up for a premium package today and start winning more of your wagers.

Frontcourt:

Junior forward David Loubeau has made large jumps in his first two seasons on campus. He displayed promise as a freshman, and really developed a nice back-to-the-basket game as a sophomore. If the Aggies can make a sixth straight showing in the NCAA Tournament, Loubeau will be one of the biggest reasons as he’s relied upon to do most of the scoring. Sophomore Ray Turner needs to make some improvements, and with his athleticism he’s more than capable. Turner’s ability to play above the basket gives him the potential to be one of the best rebounders and shot-blockers in the Big 12. If the Aggies are to be so strong in the paint again this season, they’ll need to get a lot from three true freshman in Kourtney Roberson, Keith Davis and Daniel Alexander.

Backcourt:

Because Texas A&M is missing depth down low, they’ll likely go to small ball lineups lineups while pushing the tempo. The Aggies have the skills to play this type of game, particularly with point guard Dash Harris running the show. He dished out a team-high 109 assists last season, and if he can improve on his 37.4 percent shooting, he’ll keep opposing defenders honest. B.J. Holmes is the team’s top returning scorer at 9.3 PPG, and he’s a sharp shooter who shot 36.6 percent from outside the arc last season. Developing senior Nathan Walkup along with sophomores Khris Middleton and Naji Hibbert will be important pieces to Texas A&M’s year also. Middleton has the athletic ability and length that has drawn a lot of comparisons to former Aggie great Josh Carter. Walkup has made big outside shots in the past, but he struggled last year hitting just 26.5 percent from 3-point range.

Jack’s Pick: 8th Place in the Big 12 – If the sophomores on this team can get better, the Aggies will shock some people again in 2010-11. But I believe there are too many holes to fill, and too many questions surrounding the players returning for Texas A&M to make a sixth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. An NIT appearance is more likely, but as Turgeon has shown in year’s past you can never count his teams out.
