Fargo’s Oregon State at George Washington Picks
November 28, 2009
If you want a quality handicapper that releases some of the most in-depth analysis in the business, then maybe it’s time to give a look to Matt Fargo. Nobody spends as much time as Fargo does breaking down the college basketball point spreads, and you can see first hand by taking a look at his writeups. When it comes to finding a handicapper, you don’t just want winning college basketball picks every night, but you also want to see just why the handicapper likes the game so you can learn a little bit about it yourself. If this sounds like you, then look to see what Fargo has to offer every night. Let’s take a look at why he told his clients to take Oregon State over George Washington:
I don’t think a bottom-tiered teams from the Atlantic Ten should be favored over a middle of the road team from the Pac Ten, especially by this many points. This number is based on the early results as George Washington comes in a perfect 4-0 while Oregon St. comes in at 1-3. The Colonials have not been tested in their four games however while the Beavers have and despite some setbacks, they are the better team for it. George Washington is expected to finish near the bottom of the conference this season as this team is extremely young with a lot of new faces on the roster. “In the past, we’ve went out and got guys who are athletic, can defend, and play our up-tempo style,” head coach Karl Hobbs said. “But in the last couple of years, we haven’t been able to do that; we’ve really struggled.” The newcomers are expected to contribute right away and that will be a tough task against Oregon St. The Beavers made huge strides last season with new head coach Craig Robinson as they went 18-18 including 7-11 in the very strong Pac Ten. They should be better this year as the Princeton-style offense is in its second year and that is a big plus. The turnaround last season was one of the best in the nation and the Beavers are expected to make another move up the Pac Ten ladder this year. This should be a special game for Robinson who visits the nation’s capital for the first time since being at brother-in-law Obama’s inauguration. The team was able to meet the president on Friday and tour the White House and while all this may seem to have nothing to with basketball, it will provide some inspiration and get this team ready to turn things around. The styles of the teams set the Beavers up in a solid situation. Play on teams that play a slow-down style, averaging 53 or fewer shots per game on the season going up against an opponent that has allowed 40 percent shooting or less in four straight games. This situation is 97-53 ATS (64.7 percent) over the last five seasons. 9* Oregon St. Beavers
