Fargo’s Montana State at San Francisco Picks
November 25, 2009
Matt Fargo has established himself as one of the biggest names in the handicapping business and he’s done it with hard work. There isn’t another person in the business who provides the kind of detailed analysis with his college basketball picks, not only detailing why he likes the game but also educating bettors as to how he breaks down the games. If you are having problems beating the college basketball point spreads then he can help show you how it’s done by an expert. Let’s take a look at why he liked Montana State over San Francisco the other night:
It was an up and down year for Montana St. last season as it had some big wins, defeating Colorado and Oregon St., but also had some tough conference losses. The Bobcats were able to get into the Big Sky Tournament and make some noise and narrowly missed out on the NCAA Tournament as they lost by a deuce to champion Portland St. They bring back four starters from last season and while the start this year has not been good, there is a reason. First team All-Big Sky guard Will Bynum and other returning starting guard Marquis Navarre missed the first three games of the season due to suspensions. Now at full strength, we will see a strong unit. San Francisco is 2-2 on the season and has dropped the last two games, both on the road. The Dons bring back four starters as well including senior forward Dior Lowhorn who has led the conference in scoring in both of his WCC seasons since transferring from Texas Tech. He is the best player on the floor but it is sketchy after that. In addition to some offensive worries that plagued the Dons on the road, the injury bug continued to bite them as well. The Dons were without Blake Wallace, Dominique O’Connor, Michael Williams and Tomas Bruha against UC-Santa Barbara and that severely hurts the depth of the ream. Two sophomores and a freshman are expected to start tonight. The Bobcats also fall into a great angle. Play on mid-major non-conference underdogs of 3.5 to 9.5 points with four starters returning from last year in the first 10 games of the season playing another mid-major team. This situation is 54-24 ATS (69.2%) since 1997. 9* Montana St. Bobcats
